Fair Trade

Farmer Shares Coffee, LLC, is a certified Fair Trade enterprise. This ensures that the farmers who work with us receive higher-than-standard wages for their work and are treated with respect. Farmer Shares is also a farm to consumer company, meaning we have minimal overhead costs to ensure high wages for the famers who work with us as well as a direct supply line from Nicaragua to your doorstep. This makes a difference you can taste.

Shade Grown

Coffee agriculture is usually a major contributor to the deforestation of tropical forests, but not Farmer Shares. Our coffee plants are grown within the Nicaraguan highland dry forest in a manner that protects the native flora. In addition, overexposure of coffee plants to sunlight can chemically alter coffee’s flavor for the worse. Shade grown coffee allows for coffee beans to fully develop naturally and pack a strong flavorful body when brewed.

Single Origin

The volcanic soil from the Casita Volcano provides fertile agricultural lands for cultivating coffee in El Porvenir. Farmer Shares coffee is made of 100% single origin coffee beans from one farm, not mixed with beans from across Nicaragua or elsewhere. When you drink Farmer Shares, you’re getting a taste of a place.

Farmers and Families in El Porvenir

It was not until a few years ago that these villagers’ homes went from straw/palm infrastructures to the wooden, tin-roofed homes they live in now. With no running water, electricity or transportation alongside the mountain (except for a community-owned 70’s Ford tractor), the farmers and families in El Porvenir dedicate tremendous effort into producing high-quality coffee. Every single dollar made from the sales of Farmer Shares coffee products will be returned to this community where funds are equally dispersed amongst families for food purchases, home improvements and farm development. Help us improve the lives of about 300 villagers in Nicaragua as they can finally receive a well-deserved income. Purchase our coffee today!
